I know the McCain/Palin ticket have NOT run a clean campaign by any stretch of the imagination, but there are other articles where you can talk about that. We all know there are more serious issues out there than "lipstick on a pig", so let's talk about them. Take your pick:

Oh yeah I almost forgot this is a book explaining a theory about why the media portrays things the way they do
Framing Class: Media Representations of Wealth and Poverty in America
by Diana Kendall
I just finished reading it last month and it really made me think about the media differently
This book explains the presidential process, provides historical information and explains things like campaign finance, the electoral college, the role that media plays in politics as well as other topics:
The Road to the White House 2008 8th edition
by Stephen J. WayneThese book explains the ideology behind what democrats and republicans believe on topics such as discrimination and inequality in the job market, the federal budget, health care, and social security
Discrimination and Inequality in the job market:
Unlevel Playing Fields: Understanding Wage Inequality and Discrimination
second edition
by Randy Albelda, Robert Drago and Steven ShulmanHealth Care, Social Security and the federal budget are all issues that as a young American you should really be alarmed about. Neither the current administration, Obama or McCan have offered a serious proposal to handle these problems. I think it's because if they tell the American people what is really going on they would freak the heck out:
Restoring Fiscal Sanity 2005: Meeting the Long-Run Challenge
by Alice M. Rivlin & Isabel Sawhill (this edition or any edition you can get your hands on).Now the following book will give you a general idea of what I personally believe so its filled with that liberal bias that conservatives hate. But I think before we can attack one another we have to understand what one another believes. I don't disagree with Republicans on everything. But I do believe that we have to meet half way on issues. Neither Republicans nor Democrats are 100 percent right and we have to work together to come up with a solution. So here are some of my favorite reads on liberal ideology:
Postindustrial Peasants: The Illusion of Middle-Class Prosperity
by Kevin T. Leicht & Scott T. FitzgeraldThe Meritocracy Myth
by Stephen J. McNamee and Robert K. Miller Jr.In closing keep in mind to always question everything you read, trust nothing you hear, and research everything for yourself. I have heard Barack Obama, John McCain, Joe Biden and Sarah Palin lie (especially Sarah Palin she never stops). So research the truth for yourself and doublecheck all your sources. Also I support Barack because even though I don't agree with his plans 100 percent he does have more of a plan than McCain. I like that he thinks before he speaks. My husband is in the military he has been to Iraq, Afghanistan and Kosovo and I don't want a president who is going to be quick to send us off to another war. Obama appears to be more diplomatic to me. Also I don't like how much Sarah Palin lies it bothers me. A lie here or there is one thing but to lie nonstop even after being caught is a turn off for me.
Hi my name is Renata Smith I am getting my Masters degree in Public Administration and I saw you voice your concern about the political process. The way I describe the political process is like this: Imagine the Democrats are the bloods and the Republicans are the crypts. Both are fighting for their turf, both think their right and both want to control the entire street. There are literally generations of bad blood between the two parties. They are always trying to outsmart one another and the Republicans are usually better at it. In recent history only Bill Clinton was a smart enough politician to really outsmart the Republicans. The reasons Republicans can lie like they do is because the average citizen is not educated on the political process and doesn't care to be. That is why they are easily fooled by poiticians. Also when politicians try to be honest with them they usually get angry with truth. If you are interested in reading some books on politics drop me a line and I will suggest some books for you. Although I will try my best to give you nonpartisan reads, keep in mind I lean to the left so I might not realize that a book I suggest may be too slanted. Hope this helps and I hope to see you at the polls.
